M&S Christmas collection

In October 2016, I was lucky enough to be given a 2 week placement at Hallmark house a few months after graduating. While I was there, I was placed with Tigerprint who design all of Marks & Spencer’s cards and gifting.

The brief which I was given was to design for their 2017 christmas collection as they had seen my children’s book illustrations of a polar bear and liked the aesthetic.┬áThe placement allowed me to discuss potential ideas with the great team at Tigerprint and have so much fun doing nothing but draw and play around with ideas for two straight weeks that I never expected to get anything more out of my time there.

One year later and my designs are in store. It’s so surreal to see my designs on products and in stores and they’ve turned out better than I ever than I ever could have hoped! I’d like to point out however that since my placement, my designs have obviously been developed further by other designers in the team (e.g. the 3d element to a number of the cards and the forest background on the larger bag) to be used on a wider range of products.
